Description

Afraid of the Dark is a story about a twelve-year-old boy who is mysteriously transported from the present day back to 1969 while visiting Disneyland, finding himself as a star player in the Chicago Cubs dugout during a game late in that storied season when the ‘fabulous’ Cubs collapsed in September. Trying to fulfill the wish of his loving grandfather, who has raised him, he single-handedly brings the Cubs back to the brink of making it to the World Series. But much stands in the way and the boy finds out that there are more important matters in life than baseball. Tommy Hartnett is faced with overcoming evil to save the life of his future grandmother, whom he has never met as a child.

About the Author : Gary Repetto is a former Chicago high school all-star baseball and football player who later lettered in football and baseball at the University of New Mexico, playing on three consecutive conference championship football teams. After several years coaching major college football, he was the commissioner of a state wide youth football program with responsibilities that included the interviewing, hiring and overseeing of coaches for a 2000 player organization. After coaching he became a corporate recruiter, recruiting and hiring several thousand engineers and analysts in the defense and mining industries over a long, successful career. His first novel, ‘Prairie Fire’, was published in 2015. Besides ‘Afraid of the Dark’ Repetto is working on a third novel set in New Mexico during the Cuban Missile Crisis and a series of short stories, ‘Chicago Stories, Catholic and Otherwise’. He lives in Arizona with his wife, Antoinette, and their family.

Tommy Hartnett, a twelve-year-old boy in present day Chicago, goes back in time to help the faltering 1969 Cubs recover to get into the World Series, a life-long wish of his dear grandfather who essentially has raised him.
